RESIDENTIAL LIFE

Students at Army and Navy Academy are called Cadets in line with the military tradition here and at other military academies across the United States. Cadet Life is the department overseeing what is traditionally known as Residential Life at other schools. Many of the strongest bonds between young men at Army and Navy Academy are forged outside of the classroom. Our dormitories offer boarding students a place to live, study, and socialize outside of athletic, academic, and student activities. During free time, our students enjoy our private beach access, play intramural sports, relax at our ocean view recreation hall, or unwind in the resort town of Carlsbad Village right outside our gates.

DORMITORIES

Students at the Academy reside in seven dormitories and cottages across the campus. Factoring in student interests and requests, room assignments are based on a student’s company, their organizational unit within the Corps of Cadets. Most dormitories have rooms that house two students each, but Anderson Hall has larger rooms built to be shared by three students.

BEACH AND POOL

Army and Navy Academy’s campus is built on the beachfront in Carlsbad, California. The beach is open during recreational time and is staffed by lifeguards. The Academy’s swimming pool hosts our water polo and swim teams, but is open to free swim when those teams are out of season. The pool is often used for weekend and afternoon activities.

FITNESS

The Academy has three weight rooms, a wrestling studio, tennis courts, indoor and outdoor basketball courts, indoor and beach volleyball courts, a pool, an archery range, a baseball field and batting cages, and state-of-the-art fields used for football, soccer, and lacrosse. Students also have access to an off-site indoor ice-skating rink for open skate and ice hockey.

Students can access all on-campus fitness facilities during recreational time.
